ROBERT KIRSCHBAUM
Robert Kirschbaum graduated from the Technical University of Delft (The Netherlands) as a Chemical Engineer in 1977. After a short stay with an Argentine tyre cord industry (DuPont), he joined DSM in 1978 to optimise PVC products and processes. In 1981 he moved to DSM’s Fibre Technology department, |

fostering the Dyneema super strong fibre project as from the early start until commercialization, a development in close cooperation with Toyobo.
In 1987 Robert was appointed head the Research Section for solution processing of polymers into films and fibers. After this he served DSM as a program manager for Corporate Planning and from 1991 as the General Manager of the worldwide Polyamide 4,6 (Stanyl) business.
From 1997, Mr. Kirschbaum was in charge of the DSM New Business Development Corporation. In this Corporate incubator, several early phase commercial activities and new ventures were combined to grow into sustainable businesses.
Since March 2001, Kirschbaum fulfills the role of Vice President Innovation.
The last 20 years, Robert’s activities requested frequent traveling to Asia. His involvement in several cooperations with Japanese companies and joint ventures brought experience with the life and doing business in Japan.
He is married, has three kids and enjoys sailing, playing tennis and indoor-soccer. |
