Tutors

A tutor was appointed at each of the business schools whose role was to offer online support to the international teams they had been assigned. Tutors also had to be available for face-to-face meetings and act as a coach in the case of students from their own business school. Although the project leaders from each of the business schools and the academic team of professors based in ESADE were also involved at all stages of the module, tutors were the first point of contact for students. When students presented doubts or queries, it was the responsibility of the tutor to address them and guide them throughout their learning process.

Furthermore, it was the part of the tutors’ duties to monitor the Virtual Studios of their assigned teams and ensure all students were participating and collaborating actively to the development of their team’s deliverables. Likewise, given the online nature of the GIM, it was important that the tutor’s presence was visible on the Virtual Studio, to avoid feelings of loneliness or isolation amongst students.

In terms of assessment, tutors were involved in the grading of all team deliverables, not just those of their teams. In addition to this, tutors were also required to provide a grade for each student in their teams, based on individual participation and attitude.

The team of four tutors was coordinated by the in-house tutor at ESADE, who was responsible for organizing distance meetings between the tutors and facilitating communication between the team of tutors and the project coordinators.
